The aim of the outreach is to make a sustainable and sizable difference to the Zandspruit community. Impophomo is rallying sponsors and volunteers to partner with us in the various activities planned for the week. Key events include a food garden project, refurbishment of the Zandspruit Soup Kitchen and leadership development with the local leaders and pastors. The Outreach Week culminates with the annual Zandspruit Sports Tournament which will take place on Saturday 10 June 2017. The Sports Tournament caters for almost 500 school children for a Netball and Soccer round-robin event.
The total budget required to run an effective Outreach Week is R118 500.00 (the breakdown of which is indicated in the table below). Impophomo would like to present you with the opportunity to partner with us, by either donating the necessary items to run the events, or by giving a cash donation. A Section 18A certificate and confirmation of 100% HDSA beneficiaries can be provided for B-BBEE purposes. Impophomo is an NPO, which is able to provide donors and corporates with tax exemptions or BBBEE points for any donation made to this initiative.
Zandspruit is an informal settlement located in the northwest of Johannesburg in an area known as Honeydew, alongside Beyers Naude Drive. It is estimated that 23 000 families constituting a population of about 82 000 live in an area of land the size of about 50 hectares. About 70% of the population is unemployed. In those families that have employed persons in the household, the average income for a family of 5 people is estimated at around R800 per month. Many of the vulnerable (e.g. the elderly, people living with disabilities and orphans) cannot afford groceries, and depend on the Impophomo-supported soup kitchen for a daily meal. Due to the desperate need for socio-economic upliftment in our doorstep community, Impophomo is seeking like-minded partners to make a difference with us in Zandspruit.
