18 July 2014 – late president Mandela’s birth date, better known as Mandela day, when millions of people around the world honour the legacy of Madiba.
Impophomo, together with Umsizi, as well as many other socially responsible people from Johannesburg, got involved in caring and sharing for the poor. Umsizi staff got together and collected pre-prepared clothing and food parcels from Northpoint City church in Northriding. Once arriving at Realeboga school in Zandspruit, & Masakane school, they joined hands in solidarity with the local police, community members church groups and other socially responsible people, who wanted to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate.
Streets were cleaned, food & clothing was handed out to the elderly, T-shirts and sweets were handed out to children and a great time was had by all, as the generous heart of ‘Jozi’ was once again shown. Through our continued involvement in Zandspruit & other informal settlements around Johannesburg, to eradicate poverty and bring about socio-economic development, Impophomo has seen many lives change. Thank you to all who got involved, we hope to see you again next year!
